This weeks ride, Sunday 14-03-10
This Sundays ride will be a bit of a muck around at the Doongala bowl. We will be meeting at H.E. Parker bridge at 1:15. The forecast looks good, sunny with light winds. A nice day for a bike ride.

March Already!
Woops, its March already and I haven't put together a program. This Sunday I think we will go up to the back of Warburton to do some Down hill riding. This is a double black diamond area so be warned! It takes a little while to get there. If we meet at the church at 12:00 with our lunches, we can get up there in good time.

Change to Ride Details
As you might have seen, we were planning too ride at Redesdale this Sunday. During the course of our research we received the following email. A little disappointing. We will instead ride At You Yangs. Still leaving at twelve.
Here is the email from Kristjan (The trail builder)
Hi,
Yes I know all about the Redesdale trails.
They were burnt out during last years fires and are currently in no shape to support any riding, events or casual riding.
There is no vegetation remaining in large areas of the parkand and Parks Vic have closed large sections of the park to enable regeneration.
It'll be a very slow process area which is now pretty much a barren, rocky wasteland.
Is there any else I can help you with??
Cheers,
Kristjan Snorrason

New Rules
Well it's warming up pretty quick this year. Sunday's ride was 30 degrees and about as hot as you would want.I have been thinking that if the temperature forecast is above 30 then we will cancel our ride and go to the beach instead. Please let your parents know. I would love to get some feedback.

Wombat Ride
Well we survived the shortest day of the year. In what maybe described as an ambitious plan we managed a lap and a half of Wombat state forest, thick mud, wrong turns, getting lost and all. Luckily we managed to reach the cars by nightfall.Getting lost is not uncommon. We also picked up other lost riders along the way. In the end it was touch and go finding our way back to the cars before dark. With this in mind, I'm considering saving up for a GPS unit. Any advice would be most appreciated. Also my thanks to everyone's positive attitude and efforts. (Plus extra points as everyone was well equipped with the appropriate clothing).

Deal of the Week
As I've been studying hard, I'm a little behind in the ebay link upgrades.
However I have seen that Aldi ( Bayswater) have mountain bike shoes for $35.00. At this price you can't go wrong. If you have a set of pedals that came with your bike that you are yet to use, or you are thinking of changing to clip-ins here is the chance to get a cheap pair of shoes and try it out. If you decide you don't like to be clipped in, it will have been a minimal investment!
